Come spend an evening with an extraordinary young musician, Esperanza Spalding. This 23-year-old prodigy-turned-pro will share her experience
as a professional musician and as the youngest professor in the history
of the world-famous Berklee College of Music. She will also perform
songs from her international debut album, “Esperanza.”
Armed
with uncanny instrumental chops on the upright bass, a siren voice that
spans three languages, and a natural beauty that borders on the
hypnotic, Esperanza weaves together the best elements of the old-school
with the progressive. With her ’fro blowing and jazzy bass lines
flowing, Esperanza has been featured on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno,
Jimmy Kimmel Live!, and The Second Cup Café on CBS.
Esperanza
will be joined for this event by the talented musicians of Pan United
Youth Movement. Led by Berklee College of Music graduate, Shawn
Thwaites, Pan United is dedicated to empowering youth through steelband
music and to developing a world-class professional steel orchestra.
This unique collaboration will feature the world premiere of Shawn’s
steelband arrangements of several compositions by Esperanza.
